P-I-E-R-C-E

So... Where to start? Where to start? Wow I feel like I haven't written on here for a month. OH wait.. its probably because it has been a month. I seriously don't know where all my time has gone- Its probably all because I'm just too busy being lazy and doing nothing after work every day that makes me not write as much as I promised myself I would. Well I don't even know where to begin... Derek and I are doing great. We couldn't be happier with how things are between us and I'm so happy things are working out. The other weekend Derek's cousin, Jeff, got back from a mission to Madagascar. We decided that it would be fun to go down to Highland/Lehi to spend the weekend with his dad and then go to the Homecoming on Sunday. We headed down there Saturday morning and went straight to my Dad's house. They took us out to lunch for their first time meeting Derek. Funniest part of the weekend was when we left and I got a text message from my sister saying, "Wow Derek is really hot!" haha, kids these days, don't they know its wrong to check out your older sisters boyfriend?

That weekend was super fun though. I loved meeting Derek's family even though I am super shy and awkward (I get it from my mother!) They were all very welcoming and it was a blast. Me and Derek will end up buying Derek's dad's house eventually! Maybe when we are 60 and can barley afford it :)

The other Sunday my mom text me and said, "Dinner at 4:00, be here on time." Weird... my parents never have me over for Sunday dinner at 4:00.. then when I asked why so early my mom text back, "just be here, I can't tell you why, just don't ask questions." Ok even more weird, obviously they are up to something because my mom can't keep a secret at all. I went up there at 4:00 like requested and Dave started pulling out pans and turning on the oven. Uh oh. I remembered I told him forever ago that I wanted him to teach me how to make lasagna. I cooked it (decently easy to make) and a couple miss-hap's later it was in the oven. I'm very proud of myself cause 'hey, I JUST COOKED!' A couple days later I made it for Derek, and he seemed to enjoy it. He also didn't fall over dead after taking his first bite so I think I did alright.

Moving on to my next topic..

My wonderful and amazing step father, Dave, is going through the temple for the first time this Saturday, March 27th. I could not be more proud of the guy. Although I don't go to church and practice all the Mormon beliefs I think its great that Dave is doing this for himself (makes me a little bit emotional). Dave grew up in the catholic church with a very catholic mother. For him to marry my mother, not being a Mormon, but still go to church with her every Sunday was amazing. He got baptised last November (I think) and now he is going through the temple. What an amazing father figure to look up to. Seriously. He is the best. But I am getting something out of this. I get to babysit my CUTE baby cousin :)

Pierce Taylor. He is 7 months old I think, or almost 8, hmm but that doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that he is the cutest little man ever and I get to watch him. I was the last grand kid on my moms side and 19 years later, Pierce was born. Now he has taken the weight of being the youngest off my shoulders. Derek is secretly excited to watch him too, he just doesn't know it yet. Here are some pictures of Pierce that his mom has taken of him (I stole them off of her picture website).

Isn't he just the cutest??

But back on my little tangent about Dave. So everyone who knows me well knows that Dave is very protective of me. He really only wants the best for me but I guess sometime it can come off the wrong way. Me and Derek were talking one day about how scared he is (when the time comes) to ask Dave for my hand in marriage. Does my real dad scare Derek? Or my mom? Nope! Just Dave. SO my mom told me that I should probably bring it up to Dave sometime soon so he has plenty of time to prepare himself.-- I e-mailed Dave the other day and brought it up. Well not surprisingly Dave already figured me and Derek would end up getting married, he figured that since we are attached at the hip it probably wont be too much longer before things become a little more serious and he figured that I would be bringing up this conversation soon. Gee the guy knows me WAY too well. But Dave was very supportive, told me that he would support me no matter what happens or what I chose to do with my life. Wow, I know I might not give him as much credit as he deserves, but that went really really well. Where was the lecture or the concern or the doubt?! Nowhere?! I guess I should just be happy that he likes Derek and supports us in whatever we decide to do- but I didn't expect it to be that easy. I guess I'll take what I can get and run with it. I love my step dad, he is the best. And I love Derek for being the best man ever! Until next time.. Hope you enjoyed!
