Moppit Adventures.

For all of you that know Chloe, she is a very adventurous dog. She loves checking out new people and acting like she is tough even though she only stands 6 inches from the ground. Well the other night she almost got me and her into some trouble. I seriously thought I was going to kill her.

I took her outside the other night to let her run on the grass in front of my apartment building. I wasn't paying much attention to her because she usually stays close.  Out of the corner of my eye I noticed that she was wondering off a little but I didn’t think too much of it. (I forgot to throw this information in, it is about 9:30 at night, dark outside, and my vision sucks). Next thing I know Chloe is barking her head off, and I couldn't see her anywhere. I was running frantically for the field on the South side of my apartment when I spotted her in the paved, vacant culdesac. She was barking at what looked like a black cat from a distance. When I got closer the only thing I was thinking about was how I was going to get her out of this cat fight. I didn’t want to get attacked by the cat and I defiantly didn't want her getting any diseases from a stray.

The 'cat' must have turned around because as I was running over to Chloe I could see the two white stripes on the back. I screamed in a panic, "IT’S A SKUNK IT’S A SKUNK."  I was screaming at the top of my lungs at Chloe. (I'm really surprised people didn’t come out of their apartments to see what was going on).  She finally started to run away from it when I dove to catch her and missed. Then the idiot dog started running BACK to the skunk. (How do you train a dog that a skunk isn't something that she should be trying to intimidate?)

I screamed at the top of my lungs again and she finally ran over to the curb and put her tail between her legs because she knew she was in big trouble. After a long lecture and some spankings she was thrown into her cage for the rest of the night. I was SO mad. I don’t think anyone could understand how lucky both me and Chloe are that we didn't get sprayed. Wow that would have been horrible. For the rest of the night I was shaking because I was so hyped up. It wasn't smart for me to be so close to the skunk….

#1- It could have been a rabid, rabies infested skunk that could have attacked both me and her.
#2- Could have sprayed us which is bad for obvious reasons. (smell-- duh)
#3- The spray can be shot anywhere from 7 to 15 feet away.
#4- The actual spray can cause irritation and temporary blindness.

Pretty sure I didn’t know a skunk was that powerful, I just thought that they smelled really really bad! Chloe learned her lesson though, and now she is taken outside on a leash because she CANNOT AND WILL NOT be trusted. But I still love her!

Moppit Diaries

I can't believe that my little puppy is a year old. Its crazy to thing almost a year ago I was driving down to St George to pick her up. I will never forget that day. I was so excited I didn't know what to do with myself. I invited my dad to come with me because I don't get to see him much and I figured that we could use the company. He invited his kids to ride down as well-- so it was Conner, Rosie and I crammed in the back seat with my dad in the front. We were all so excited.

A long car ride later we were pulling off the exit to meet the people. I looked out the car window and I could see 2 women and 1 man standing beside a car with a cage and 3 puppies inside there. We hurried and parked and ran over to meet the people and my puppy. When I looked in the cage I was thinking "wtf none of these puppies are the one I picked out from the Internet." I was so annoyed. They had two Pomeranian/Yorkie mixed puppies and then just one Shorkie. But she wasn't the one I had picked out. I played with the puppies for a minute and they told me to decide which one I wanted. Even though the Poms were really playful and energetic I decided to go with the Shorkie because that's what I wanted all along.

Her temperament was very weird. She didn't move much on the car ride home- she didn't make a single noise and when I would pick her up she wouldn't flinch. When we dropped off my dad and his kids we let the puppy stretch a little. She could barley even walk and I got a feeling things weren't very good with her. I tried to give her some water but she wouldn't take any. We got back in the car and I held her all the way to my aunts house. I was picking up a free TV from her because my other roommate was moving out. She has a Yorkie and I figured I could ask her some questions about how they act and what theirs was like when they first brought him home.

Aunt Camille looked at the pup and was all "you should just make sure to take her to the vet, just in case something is wrong with her. Just make sure that you take her Monday." I started to freak out and get nervous that I had spent money on this dog that was going to die on me on the way home. GREAT. Just what I needed. On the last stretch of the long drive home I thought of names that I could name her. I was thinking CoCo or Chanel or Dolce or something like that.. (a total typical girl-dog name) but when I said Chloe I knew that was it. When I picked that name I thought it was a unique name but now I realize everyone and their dog is named Chloe (literally).

Well when Monday rolled around I took her to the vet and wasn't too worried she was kind of eating and I just figured the vet would tell me to watch her close. She only weighed about 1.2 pounds, she was all hair and no meat. The vet said I needed to give her a milk supplement in her food so that she could gain more weight and that I needed to chop up her food in a blender and mix it with baby food (it was a pain in the butt). Also she said the lump on her neck was just from the shot she had before I got her. We were almost done with the checkup when the vet found that Chloe had 2 hernias. This meant that if her intestines fell through the hole in her muscle that it could kill her- or that if I had to fix them it would be $1,500. Uh what was I supposed to do?? I didn't/DON'T have money for that kind of thing.

I called my mom crying-- she was not comforting. She just said "I told you so Ashlee." I didn't know what to do and the vet wanted to see her in 2 weeks for more shots. I fed her the way I was supposed to and helped to teach her how to walk (how sad is it that a little puppy couldn't even walk? She would just take a step and collapse-- it was depressing) When we went back in that 2 weeks she had gained weight and the doctor said that I was doing a good job as a 'mother' but her hernias were still there. We kept going to the vet for shots and check ups and one day when I went in there the vet looked at me with a smile and said, "Hey her hernias have healed up all by them self :)" I was soo happy.

All in all Chloe and me had our hard times (when she was lying on her death bed!!) and it really stressed me out because she was like a dogchild to me-- but now she is a rambunctious little dog. She has tripled in weight and size. She doesn't even look like her old self anymore. I call her my miracle dog :)......

The day after we brought her home-- look at her precious little nose haha.

Growing up a little more-- she could walk pretty good at this time.

My favorite picture ever-- Sam is laying down calmly while Chloe is chewing on her tail and Ozzie is humping her.

After bath time with mom!

Graduating from puppy school.

Chlo sleeping with Suzy-
Chloe at Dave's basketball game-- she is so cute. :)
This is why we call her Moppit Head. Her hair is out of control.

Poor puppy- getting tortured by Coco's hat.

TREATS!

She might look innocent but she is totally not... She is thinking, "Hey Aunt Lindsee you best be giving me that treat before I rip your freaking head off."

All. About. Her. Blog.

So there is this friend I have, she is amazing. I don't know what I would do without her. Do you ever have friends that make you feel bad about yourself? Or that you feel don't treat you as good as they should? I have many of those. I mean I've been through a lot of friends- always learning the hard way that they are only in the friendship because it works for them but as soon as it stops benefitting them they screw you over and leave. Well THIS person is not one of THOSE friends. She is the kind that everyone hopes to find eventually in their lives.

We had a falling out my senior year. I was more into hanging out with 'party' people when she was into hanging out with the old original high school friends. We had our moments of immaturity and back stabbing but I knew that if I EVER needed her she would ALWAYS be there for me. We would make up and be close again but someone always brought drama between us. Our friendship rekindled a couple of months ago when we both realized that our drama was SO high school. And since then things have been perfect. This girl is seriously my sister and a part of my family.

I guess why I am writing this sappy blog about her is because I feel like she has truly made an impact on my life. She is so strong and so willing to be there for me. If I'm having one of those "fck my life" kind of days I know she will always be here to pick me up when I fall. I love this girl so much and I don't know how I ever made it without her. She is the perfect friend and I just want her to know that I owe her my life. She brings out the best in me and we are perfect together.

I love you Linds. Through thick and thin NEVER forget that. You are my angel.
